The name "Desert Opera Theatre" is something of a misnomer. Since 1971, we have been presenting musical theater in Southern California's Antelope Valley, mostly musical comedy instead of opera or operetta. Our recent plays have been musicals like The Scarlet Pimpernel, My Fair Lady, and Fiddler on the Roof. If you plan to be in the high desert north of Los Angeles, please plan to attend one of our community theater productions.

2007-2008 Season
Our regular season at the Palmdale Playhouse opens with The Wizard of Oz in August. Then in February, 2008, enjoy D.O.T.'s Music Spectacular & Variety Show. Finally, in April 2008, see Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. For more about these and other plays, go to the Plays page.

Our calendar also announces auditions as soon as they are scheduled. We do our best to provide family entertainment, not just to audiences but also to cast members. Shows like The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Wizard of Oz allow entire families to participate in theater together.
