February 11 - 20, 2005, Palmdale Playhouse Fame Photo Gallery First came the hit motion picture, then the long-running television series. Now the screen sensation of the 1980's is a stage sensation that is indeed "gonna live forever". It is a bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artist and academic work. With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today: prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse, and perserverance. It is a high-energy contemporary musical. FAME stands apart from other musicals with a high school theme because of the depth of the characters. Unlike GREASE or FOOTLOOSE which portray teenagers as one-dimensional, FAME follows distinctly different personalities grow into forward-looking adults or sink into dispair depending on the choices they make.
