"A show about families, for families" View Photo Gallery Set in Russia before the Communist Revolution, Fiddler on the Roof is the story of a humble Jewish dairyman celebrating life and family in the face of change. It is one of the most popular Broadway musicals ever, including wonderful songs like "If I Were a Rich Man", "Tradition", and "Sunrise, Sunset". This winner of nine Tony awards is filled with warmth, love, and comedy. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. Book by Joseph Stein. Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Music by Jerry Bock. Based on Sholom Aleichem's stories by special permission of Arnold Perl Directed by Matthew Grandpre This was Desert Opera Theatre's most successful show to date. Even after adding an extra Saturday matinee, the show sold out four performances and nearly sold out the other three. The cast received a standing ovation after every show. The Photo Gallery gives you a hint of the great theatre experience that was Fiddler.
